Job title – Estimator

We are currently looking for an Estimator at our offices in Brakpan.

  1. REQUIREMENTS
  • Grade 12, combined with completion of an Electrical Apprenticeship Program and field experience.
  • Minimum 5+ years’ relevant experience related to commercial and/or industrial projects.
  • Accustomed to estimating for projects valued at R1 million and above.
  • Thorough knowledge of the electrical field with familiarity in associated components and equipment
  • Knowledgeable of the N.E.C and local codes
  • Proficient with MS Suite & Outlook and experience utilizing AutoCAD.
  • Strong computer skills and adept at learning new software
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Detailed oriented and self-motivated.

To compile estimates for all LV switchboard enquiries.

  1. DETAILED DESCRIPTION

Estimating and Design

  • Prepare detailed initial design of all components in accordance with the customer’s requirement, including total process and electrical requirements.
  • Ensure that all SABS standards are adhered to in the design.
  • List all the component requirements on a spreadsheet, including all labour costs.
  • Obtain prices for all components from approved suppliers, ensuring that the best discounts are pre-negotiated, and used in all tenders.
  • Calculate total cost and add mark-up.
  • Where applicable at least two cost effective alternatives are required.
  • Obtain final sign off the proposed quote from the Estimating Manager or the Sales Director

Tenders

  • Compile tender document with all required covering letters to customer.
  • Prepare presentation for customer, if necessary
  • Attend tender clarification meeting.
  • Attend to all customer queries relating to the tender and/or design.
  • Follow up the tender process and obtain tender results and reasons for the decision if the tender is not successful.

General

  • Assist with the final design when required.
  • Maintain contact with customers.
  • Do telephonic sales, whenever possible.
