JB Switchgear Solutions (Pty) Limited was recently awarded a contract for the total refurbishment of three (3) motor control centres at a major food industry site in Tshwane. The 25-year-old panels were stripped completely, re-painted, upgraded, and equipped with the latest technology and equipment.

There were 40 tiers of back-to-back panels which were upgraded to meet the latest version of SANS 1973-1 and IEC 61439-1/2 standard, and the doors were fitted with laminated glass to facilitate visual inspection of the equipment inside the panels.

This project pioneers the first working installation of Schneider Electric’s ‘Tesys-T Island’ integral motor starter technology in South Africa, as well as Altivar machine ATV320 variable speed drives.
